When you realize you have to get into the internet marketing arena, it can seem completely overwhelming. You could just ask your twelve year old nephew to handle everything for you. But, while he may be a whiz at games and Intagram or Snap Chat (more on that in another article) he doesn’t know anything about your business. You do.
If the reason you want to create a website or Facebook page is so more people will know about your business, you’re on the right track. The Internet is now a part of life as we know it. In fact, many consumers don’t consider a business to be legitimate if there is no website or social media pages!
So, where do you begin? There are DIY sites, where you do all the work yourself. This is fine if you already have some level of expertise with the Internet and computers. But let’s assume you don’t. You’ve spent the last number of years becoming very good at what you do and what you know, not on learning about Internet technology.
But maybe your competition has! The easiest way to find out is to go to www.google.com (you can just click on those blue words and your page will open to Google. In the space type a few words that describe your business. For example, if you are a tree surgeon, who has the skills and tools to identify and treat diseased trees, put in, (your town or county) + tree disease. Then see what comes up.
Visit the website of each business that fits that description. Make notes about what you liked and didn’t like. This will help you in designing your own website.
Ask yourself some questions about what your competitors offer. Do they explain things about the business? Are there special sales? Good photos? Is the site confusing or easy to navigate? Is it interesting? Does the content seem recent and relevant?
Believe it or not you have already begun to create your own website in your mind. You can continue on your own, or give us a call and discuss your ideas with us.
Either way, bless you in your adventure into the World Wide Web!
